Rare Ireland Annual Conference
and Disability Information Day
Rare Ireland hosts an annual conference that brings together families affected by rare diseases, clinicians working in the field of rare diseases, and rare disease researchers. Our conference enables families to connect with each other, form friendships, and gain support. They can also seek information from clinicians and learn about the latest research being done to benefit the rare community. Bringing families, clinicians, and researchers together is highly beneficial, as it allows professionals to listen to the firsthand lived experiences of families. This helps them focus their research and care pathways on the needs of the rare community. Our conference aims to provide families with valuable information that can help improve their quality of life. To achieve this, we have included an information exhibition as a part of the event. This exhibition showcases exhibits from both national and local charities and support organisations that offer a range of valuable services and support to families of children with additional needs.

Celebrating Success: Our 3rd Annual Rare Ireland Conference and Disability Open Day
On 18th October 2024, we hosted our 3rd Annual Rare Ireland Conference at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone. The event brought together an inspiring community of rare disease advocates, patients, professionals, and families, all united in their commitment to raising awareness and understanding of rare diseases.
This year’s conference was held alongside our 3rd Annual Disability Open Day, which featured over 18 informative and engaging exhibits. Together, these events created a truly wonderful and inspirational day.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible speakers who shared their personal and professional experiences of living with rare diseases. Your insights were both moving and empowering.
A special thank you also goes to the exhibitors who participated in the Disability Open Day. The invaluable information you provided to families continues to make a meaningful impact on the rare disease and disability communities.
The Rare Ireland Conference and Disability Open Day offer an unparalleled opportunity for rare disease patients, their families, and healthcare professionals to connect, share knowledge, and promote the need for greater awareness and understanding of rare diseases.
The day was capped off with our 1st Charity Ball, an elegant and exciting evening that brought the community together to celebrate and raise funds for our vital work. The ball was a wonderful success, filled with joy, laughter, and a shared determination to continue supporting the rare disease and disability communities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a resounding success. We look forward to seeing you all again next year as we continue to champion the rare disease and disability communities!
